Kimblesworth were the leagues highest scorers today as they took on new boys Seaham Harbour. Batting first Kimb reached 240 for 7, with P Savarithmuhu top scoring with 90 runs, , whilst C Blackford took 3 for 21 for the Harbour. After tea the visitors were bowled out for 191, leaving them 49 runs short. S Pattinson making 65 before being bowled, whilst P Savarithmuhu took 3 for 47.
Last years runners up Burnhope fell at the first hurdle, losing by 74 runs to big hitting South Hetton. South Hetton made 213 for their ten wickets, the top scorers being A Nicholson 53 and A Hillas 56, whilst J Keys led the Burnhope reply taking 3 for 46. C Pippa led the line for Burnhope, opening the batting with 70, however they were bowled out for 139 thanks to C Ferguson taking 4 for 44 and S Massey 4 for 13. Wearmouth got off to winning start at home to Belmont, Belmont batted out the 45 overs, making 135 for 8 wickets. P Cocksford top scoring with 34, whilst P Woodroffe took 3 for 15 for Wearmouth. In reply Wearmouth passed the total for the loss of 7 wickets. A Davison top scoring on 35, whilst C Smith took 4 for 9 in reply.
Beamish travelled to Stanhope for their first game. The visitors batted first, making 123 for 8, with G Shaw making 50 of them. With H Mews taking 4 for 27. After tea Stanhope had made 79 for 9, when the game was abandoned. A Robinson top scored with 20 and C Lowes took 3 for 17.
