In division 1 we saw the weather playing its part to make it an interesting weekend. Kimblesworth were announced as champions without a ball being bowled, as Coundon conceded their tie this week.
Belmont and Beamish played out a tie at the red triangle. Beamish batted first making 55 all out, with L Kirtley making 25, with S Latimer taking 5 for 6 for Belmont. Belmont were then also bowled out for 5, with P Cosforth making 26 and J Craig taking 5 for 18. So both teams were awarded 12 points.
Bottom side Stanhope pulled themselves up the table defeating struggling East Rainton. Batting first Rainton were all out for 105, with J Messer adding 39 of those. Whilst H Mews took 4 for 29 for the dalesmen. S Mctaggert then made 39, as Stanhope passed the total with the last men at the crease. J Messer took 3 for 15 and C Valance 3 for 31 for Rainton.
The final completed game saw Burnhope defeat Wearmouth. Batting first Burnhope declared on 197 for 7. With R Omar top scoring on 38, whilst D Turnbull took 3 for 36 for Wearmouth. After tea, and despite C Spurs making 59, it wasnt enough as Wearmouth were all out for 139, whilst M Steer took 4 for 29.
The last game between South Hetton and Seaham Harbour was abandoned due to the rain. South Hetton made 264 for 6, whilst Harbour were 51 for 1 when the game was abandoned. Full scorecard unobtainable.
The final round of games saw wins for both the leagues top and bottom sides. Kimblesworth rounded off their champions season with victory over second placed Kibblesworth by 5 wickets. Batting first Kibblesworth made 123 all out. A Awan and J Carr joint top scored on 34. K Kethanan 3 for 26 and B Smith 4 for 35 took the bulk of the wickets for Kimb. For Kimblesworth the joint top scorers were S Emmerson (47 not out) and K Kulasegaram also 47, the win was despite D Hughes taking 3 31.
Simonside moved themselves into second place with 91 run victory over Belmont. Batting first Sima made 253 for , with M Pattison 60, C Owens 111 and N Coxall 49 not out. D Wake 1 for 38 was the pick of the bowlers for Belmont. Belmont batted the overs for 162 for 6, with D Cook 50 and T Davison 58 not out, T Haynes was the pick of the Simonside bowlers taking 1 for 5, with the 6 wickets spread across 4 bowlers.
The final game saw bottom side Tantobie end the season with a win at local rivals Beamish. Beamish batted first making 127 all out, Tantobie then made 128 for 4. The full scorecard in unobtainable.
