Coundon’s long wait for a win is finally over, as the ran out 72 run winners against Belmont. Batting first, Coundon made 197 all out, with A D Tait adding 53, this was despite J Ricketts taking 4 for 33. Belmont were then bowled out for 119 with A Bowery making 31, whilst J Hardaker took 6 for 39. Kimblesworth versus Hunwick ended with two huge scores the home side batted first, with S Smith 71, S Emmerson 66 and S Savarimuthu 74 adding the bulk of the 296 runs. This was despite J Mensforth taking 4 for 59. In reply I Stewart made 100 not out to see the visitors to 275 for 8, as the game was timed out at 7.30. Burnhope also won, with a 5 wicket victory over South Hetton. South Hetton batted first, A Hillis top scored with 30, as the home team made 103 for 8, with C Halliday taking 3 for 24. Burnhope made a steady reply passing the post with 5 wickets to spare, G Dawson adding 39 and M Cook taking 3 for 41. The other games saw Wearmouth claim a 5 wicket victory at home to Beamish. Beamish batted first posting 85 all out, despite 50 runs from D Keegan. Whilst P Woodruff took 4 for 15. D Forest added 44 as the home team passed the total. G Craig took 2 for 19. The final game saw East rainton beat Stanhope by 50 runs. Batting first rainton declared on 136 for 8. N Matthews top scoring on 39 whilst H Muse took 2 for 20.Both S Campbell and J Bates made 28 but it wasn’t enough, as they were bowled out for 86, with R Petherick taking 4 for 22.

Division 2 winners Kimblesworth came out on the right side of a close match with Hunwick. Batting first Hunwick made 207 for 7 with G Reed top scoring on 37, whilst B Smith taking 3 for 37. B Graham added 54 to see Kimblesworth cross the line with 1 wicket to spare, as A Proud took 4 for 46. Kibblesworth ran out deserved winners against 9 man East Rainton Batting first Kibblesworth declared on 197 for 9, with 112 coming from D Hughes, whilst A Bell took 4 for 48. In reply Rainton were bowled out for 84, despite 17 from A Thwaite, A Bush took 4 for 28. Burnhope claimed an 8 wicket victory away at Tantobie, Batting first the home team struggled and the innings closed for 37, with 19 runs coming from G Caisley, whilst J Keys took 3 for 11. In reply M Reynoldson scored 23, despite A Bell taking 2 for 8. The final game saw Simonside beat Belmont by 10 wickets. Belmont were all out for 124, S Ralphs adding 34, whilst N Coxhoe took 3 for 22. In reply N Coxhoe 60 not out and M Pattinson 52 not out saw sima to victory.
