Wearmouth had the biggest victory of the day, beating Coundon by 9 wickets. The visitors batted first making 130 all out, M Howe ending the innings Un defeated on 65. With L Smiley taking 3 for 23 for Wearmouth. S Clinton then went on to score 80 not out as Wearmouth passed the total for the loss of 1 wicket, this was taken by A D Tait for 31 runs.
Champions elect Kimblesworth, defeat Beamish by 5 wickets, Beamish batted first, setting a very respectable 256 for 9, with the opening pair of G Shaw 86 and L Elinor 99, adding most of the runs. K Keshan did add some resistance taking 3 for 37. The Kimblesworth batting was however too strong, as the passed the post for the loss of 5 wickets. K Kerr 82 not out and S Kumar 50 saw them home, despite A Siblett taking 4 for 57.
Stanhope also suffered a 5 wicket loss, batting first they made 150 all out, M Dawdon top scoring with 50, with A Massey taking 3 for 18. L Lang then went on to hit 40 to top score in S Hetton innings, with A Young taking 3 for 48.
The final game saw Burhope defeat Belmont by 7 wickets. Belmont batted first, making 171 all out, T Heslop was the top scorer with 54, whilst M Fraser took 3 for 16 for the Hope. In reply M Parry top scored making 42, as a team effort saw Burnhope home. C Smith took 1 for 29 as the pick of the Belmont bowlers.
In Division 2, East Rainton recieved a hammering from Kibblesworth. Batting first Kibblesworth made 290 for 4 declared. With A Awan top scoring on 131, this is Awan’s fourth hundred in four games, which is potentially a league record so congratulations to him, whilst R Petherick took 2 for 50 for Rainton. Rainton were then bowled out for 86, with A Bush feasting on the rainton batsmen taking 5 for 38. Whilst S Gillan top scored with 21 for Rainton.
The other game saw another big defeat for Burnhope seconds, as second bottom Belmont defeated them by 116 runs. Batting first Belmont made 165 for 9. A Reynolds top scoring with 37 in a team effort, this was despite J Allen taking 3 for 66. The hope we’re then bowled out for 49, with B Reynoldson top scoring on 20, with S Latimer taking 5 for 23 and J Mollett 4 for 26.
On Sunday the Glenn Pattison memorial trophy final was played with Kimblesworth (194 for 9) beating South Hetton (156 all out). Congratulations to Kimblesworth CC.
