Belmont consolidated their position with a 6 wicket victory over Wearmouth. Batting first Wearmouth made 144 all out. J McGonnell top scored with 63 not out. Whilst C Milnethorpe took the bulk of the wickets taking 4 for 17. In reply A Bowery 42 and P Cosford 41 not out, combined to see belmont home with 6 wickets to spare, K Philliskirk was the pick of the Wearmouh bowlers taking 2 for 19.
Burnhope also maintained their second place with a victory over table climbers South Hetton. Batting first Burnhope made 212 all out, with the a team effort adding the runs. D Cane 38, M Fraser 30 and G Dawson 36 were the top scorers, A Hillas took 3 for 15 for Hetton. South Hetton were then bowled out for 182, 30 runs short of the target. T Franks was the top scorer with 67 and M Fraser took 3 for 24 for the victors.
The final two games saw the four bottom clubs meet. Beamish and East Rainton ran out the victors on the day. Beamish hosted Stanhope and the home team batted first. Ending the innings on 165 for 6, G Shaw was the top scorer with 49. Whilst A Robinson took 2 for 18 for the dalesmen. After tea Hope were bowled out for 154, just 11 runs short of their target. H Muse was the top scorer with 38, whilst C Pither took 3 for 34 and A Simblett 4 for 27.
The final match saw East Rainton host Coundon, Coundon batted first making 121 all out, T Little was the top scorer with 33, whilst C Henderson Jnr took 3 for 14. In reply N Matthews posted 58 as Rainton lost two wickets passing the total. T Little took 1 for 16 and M Howe 1 for 27 for Coundon.
Next week is the final week of NEDCL cricket for 2018, with three outstanding fixtures also remaining and two cup finals.
