It was a week of suprising results, and if anyone bet on our league I think a few people would be our of pocket. Hunwick pushed aside a strong 177 from Coundon, with J Hardaker added 75 not out. In reply Hunwick made 178 for 6, with M Been posting 50 despite the best efforts of M Howe with 4 for 23. Burnhope achieved the highest score of the day - 238 for 6 in reply to Beamish's 232 for 5. D Keegan 56 and L Kirtley 93 not out adding the bulk of the Beamish runs. A Hughes took 4 for 57. However A Hughes 110 not out and M Fraser 85 not out saw Burn home despite 5 for 51 from G Shaw. Stanhope posted 189 for 9 thanks to a team effort and M Messer taking 4 for 39. Kimblesworth however fell 3 runs short despite 72 from D Turnbull. And Stanhope D Bates 7 for 37. It was a bad day for East Rainton as they failed to chase down 161 set by Wearmouth. Which was achieved despite C Henderson taking 4 for 60. In reply Rainton fell 77 runs short thanks to the bowling of W Orchin 4 for 18 and C Paton 4 for 13. Finally Belmont beat South Hetton.
South Hetton (147 all out) lost to Belmont (151 for 7) by 4 runs.
Coundon (177 all out) lost to Hunwick (178 for 6) by 4 wickets.
Wearmouth (161 all out) beat East Rainton ( 84 all out ) by 77 runs.
Beamish ( 232 for 5) lost to Burnhope (238 for 6) by 4 wickets.
Kimblesworth (186 all out) lost to Stanhope (189 for 9) by 3 runs.
Division 2
Tantobies winning run continued as they pushed aside bottom of the table Coundon by 9 wickets, D Arthur took 4 for 25 as Coundon fell for 71. Simonside also remain on form, beating Kimblesworth by 7 wickets. S Winter took 5 for 28 as Kimblesworth were bowled out for 77, a score that was reached for the loss of 3 wickets. Last year's champions East Rainton suffered their first defeat at the hands of Wearmouth, rainton were bowled out for 56 as A Murphy took 5 for 21. Wearmouth eased past the post for the loss of 7 wickets despite 4 for 32 from D Portrey. Kibblesworth beat Belmont by 1 wicket to maintain a winning start. Belmont reached 73 despite E Roberts taking 4 for 24, in reply the hosts lost 9 in reaching the total thanks to A Bush taking 5 for 30. Beamish seconds reached 117 all out, but it wasn't enough to beat Burnhope, who lost 3 wickets in the chase, a 74 not out by L Kay saw them over the line.
Belmont (73 all out) lost to Kibblesworth (77 for 9) by 1 wicket
Simonside (78 for 3) beat Kimblesworth (77 all out) by 7 wickets.
Burnhope (118 for 3) beat Beamish (117 all out) by 7 wickets.
East Rainton (56 all out) lost to Wearmouth (57 for 7) by 3 wickets.
Coundon (71 all out) lost to Tantobie (72 for 1) by 9 wickets.
