Another large score was amassed by table topping Kimblesworth, batting first they declared on 298 for 8. With C Hazelwood 66 and L wright 78 not out adding most to the total. Whilst A Young took 3 for 41 as part of Stanhope response. After tea Stanhope were bowled out for 179, with S Muse making 109. P Savarimuthu took 4 for 28 and S Kumar 3 for 14 for Kimblesworth.
Other games however were slightly closer run, Belmont beat East Rainton by 19 runs. Batting first Belmont made 165 for 9, with A Bowery top scoring with 56. Whilst D Steinberg took 3 for 24 for Rainton. Rainton however ended on 146 for 9, one player retired hurt, L Richardson was the top scorer on 66. Whilst J Ricketts took 4 for 21.
Beamish ran out 33 run winners against last season's runners up Burnhope. G Craig 79 and S Nixon 78 added most of their total of 273 for 7. A Hughes was the pick of the Burnhope bowlers taking 4 for 24. In reply C Pither made 66 and L Shaw was not out 60, as Burnhope were bowled out for 240. G Craig taking 4 for 40 in the process.
The final game saw Coundon travel to Seaham Harbour. The visitors batted first reaching 151 all out, L Bell top scored with 39, whilst M Stuart took 3 for 24 for the Harbour. In response Harbour passed the total with the loss of 4 wickets. A Boal top scored with 55 not out, whilst T Little took 2 for 25.
Division 2
Three teams played their first games of the season this week and all came out as the winning side. Kibblesworth beat a Burnhope side looking to build on last season's performance. Kibblesworth batted first making 123 all out, C Roberts top scoring with 37, whilst M Steer took 5 for 84 and D Portrey took 4 for 38 from the other end. Burnhope however were bowled out for 62, with D Crozier top scoring on 22. Whilst C Roberts took 3 for 32 and C Scott took 4 for 17.
EastbEast Rainton came out on top of a close encounter with Belmont, winning by a single wicket. T Davison top scored with 55 as Belmont made 158 all out. G Moody took 3 for 31 and A Bell 4 for 35 for Rainton. In reply C Henderson hit 89 runs to make up the bulk of the rainton reply, whilst R Bancroft took 4 for 30 and M Chowdry 5 for 43 took all the wickets for Belmont.
The final game saw Simonside beat Beamish by 7 wickets. Beamish batted first making 115 all out. S Mars adding 41 runs to the total. Whilst D Maddison took 5 for 53 for Sima. In reply N Coxall made 40 runs to see Simonside home. Despite S Williams taking 2 for 20.
The final match was Tantobie vs Kimblesworth. However Tantobie conceded the game due to a lack of players. The club held a meeting last night to decide whether to continue. We all hope they do.
