East Rainton won their first match of the season this week, beating Beamish by 37 runs, batting first Rainton made 147 all out, with N Matthews making 50. Whilst G Craig took 5 for 32 in response. After tea Beamish were bowled out for 110, G Shaw ending the innings on 40 not out, with S Taylor 4 for 15 and J Messer 4 for 30.
Table topping Kimblesworth maintained their position with victory in a high scoring game against Wearmouth colliery welfare. With Wearmouth Batting first making 230 for 7, K Philliskirk ended on 101 and C Nicholson 51 not out. R Beeson was the pick of the bowlers taking 2 for 70. In reply Kimblesworth passed the total for the loss of 3 wickets, S Emmerson making 56 and D Puncheon 87 not out. P Woodruff took 1 for 11 for the visitors.
Burnhope continued to push at the top of the table too. Beating Stanhope by 117 runs. Burnhope set a strong target of 213 for 6 declared, F Tweedy added 84 of those runs, with M Dalton 2 for 42 and J Bogle 2 for 56. In reply Stanhope made 96 all out. With M Dalton making 45 it wasn't enough however with R Omar taking 3 for 18 and A Hughes 4 for 26.
The final game saw Seaham Harbour away at Belmont, the away team running out 42 run winners. Harbour batted first making 179 all out, with M Marwood adding the bulk of the runs with a total of 93 to his name. Whilst J Ricketts took 4 for 27 for Belmont. After tea N Corkhill took 4 for 16, as Belmont were bowled out for 136, with C Smith making 35.
Division 2
The second Division saw some massive scores over the weekend. The top two sides met, with Kimblesworth travelling to Burnhope. The away team ran out 197 run victors, batting first they declared on 266 for 5, with M Bowden 84, C Ho 58 and N Kulasegaram 81 not out adding the runs, whilst J Hughes took 3 for 58. J Hughes also top scored hitting 26 not out, as Burnhope were bowled out for 69, with L Puncheon claiming 5 for 16.
Simonside racked up 236 runs against East Rainton, losing 9 wickets in the process. With D Owens 49 and J Surtees 62 the top scorers. Whilst G Wilson took 3 for 16 for Rainton. C Henderson fop scored for Rainton with 24, as they were bowled out for 93, 143 runs short. R Henderson took 3 for 8 for sima.
Kibblesworth also scored 236, but they only lost 7 wickets and declared their innings closed. With A Awan 51 and A Bush 103 not out. J Appleby took 3 for 72 for Beamish and East Stanley CC. In reply Beamish were bowled out for 78 runs. With A Ward top scoring on 38, whilst C Scott took 5 for 44 and A Awan 3 for 32, as Kibblesworth won by 158 runs.
The final game on Saturday saw Tantobie at home to Belmont. Tantobie batted first and we're bowled out for 54, with G Harris top coring on 15, whilst R Bancroft took 5 for 23 for Belmont. After tea Belmont were bowled our for 44, with E Wright top scoring with 7. B Wilson took 6 for 19 for Tantobie.
On Sunday Kibblesworth travelled to East Rainton, Batting first Kibblesworth were bowled out 21. A Bush was the top scorer with 15, Whilst I Kitching took 6 for 10 and G Moody 3 for 8. In reply Rainton passed the total for the loss of two wickets. B Batie was the top scorer with 8 not out, whilst A Awan took 1 for 7 and A Bush 1 for 14.
