Murton defeated Coundon at Leeholme welfare. The home side batted first making 76 all out, N Howe top scoring with 27 not out, J Dodd took 5 for 10 and J Greenwood 3 for 15. After tea J Vout made 32 not out as Murton lost 3 wickets, these were taken by N Howe who took 3 for 13.
South Hetton completed a 9 wicket victory over bottom club Burnhope. Burnhope batted first scoring 88, with M Steer making 30 not out. L Houghton took 6 for 17 for South Hetton. D Stewart scored 73 not out as Hetton cleared the total. D Scott took 1 for 10 for Burnhope.
Beamish and Belmont both gained ground and moved themselves away from the bottom. Beamish gained 20 points at the expense of Stanhope. Stanhope made 56 all out, A Brown making 22 of them, L Kirtley took 3 for 25 for Beamish. C Lowes then top scored with 26 not out to help Beamish to victory. This was despite N Dalton taking 2 for 13.
Finally Belmont defeated Wearmouth, to notch a first victory. Wearmouth posted 121 all out, T Brigham scored 31 of the total, whilst M Chaudray took 3 for 16. M Hague top scored for Belmont making 34 as Belmont lost 5 wickets in the chase. This was despite J McGonnell taking 2 for 30.
In Division 2, East Rainton climbed to joint top of the table at the expense of the home side Seaham Harbour. Rainton batted first making 190 for 5. R Richardson top scoring with 36, whilst J Lamb took 3 for 36 for harbour. After tea J Lamb scored 47 , but Harbour fell just short at 179 all out. S Taylor 3 for 31 and J Bell 3 for 53 did the damage for rainton.
Tantobie got a first victory under their belt as they bowled Beamish out for 54, G Caisley top scoring with 16, B Wilson 4 for 8 and N Whiteford 5 for 35 did the damage. After tea D Proud scored 22 as Tantobie lost two wickets in the chase. A Metcalfe 1 for 13 and G Caisley 1 for 1 took the beamish wickets.
Simonside climbed to joint top with a win at Murton. Simonside made 168 for 7, J Surtees top scored with 48, despite I Graham taking 3 for 32. D Brewster top scored with 31 as Murton were all out for 122. With S Winter taking 5 for 20.
Kibblesworth are the third undefeated side, they bowled out Belmont for 36. T Harris top scored with 10 not out. G Roberts 4 for 15 and S McEnaney 5 for 16 did the damage, L Davison then top scored with 29 not out as they reached a 10 wicket victory.
